Buying a house or apartment in a small Spanish seaside town or a beautiful, quiet village where you can enjoy your retirement is becoming increasingly common. The portal Idealista conducted a study that identified the six best places in Spain for retirees to live, including two Costa del Sol cities: Benalmádena and Mijas.
🔸 BENALMÁDENA (MÁLAGA)
Benalmádena is a city with a population of about 70,000, located not far from Málaga and its airport. It is distinguished by its quiet beaches and an abundance of cultural and entertainment activities.
💶 The average price of real estate for sale in Benalmádena in September 2023 was €2,941/m², and the average rental price was €13.9/m² per month.
🔸 MIJAS (MÁLAGA)
Located at approximately the same distance (34 km) from both Málaga and Marbella is the second most popular city for retirees: Mijas. With a population of about 90,000, including many foreigners, it is one of the main tourist centers both nationally and internationally. The combination of a favorable climate, modern amenities, and proximity to the sea makes this city an ideal place for those seeking peace and beauty in retirement.
💶 The average price of real estate for sale in Mijas in September 2023 was €2,697/m². Renting a home here costs an average of €11.9/m² per month.
Also included in the TOP 6 were: Almuñécar (Granada), Sitges (Barcelona), Miraflores de la Sierra (Madrid), and Peñíscola (Castellón).
